OUR LADY OF PEACE SCHOOL
Rooted in the tradition of the Sisters of Mercy, we at Our Lady of Peace School are called to educate the whole child in the spirit of service and compassion. We strive as a community coupled with God's love, to inspire each child to grow spiritually and academically, in a diverse and increasingly challenging world.
It’s Christmas, Charlie Brown!
Let’s show how we care for one and all!
During the Christmas season, the Student Council will be collecting items for Project Renewal, a ministry that assists the homeless in Manhattan.
The items to be collected are:
NEW ADULT SIZE WHITE COTTON SOCKS
NEW ADULT SIZE GLOVES AND KNIT HATS
STIM-U-DENT MINT PLAQUE REMOVER
SUGAR-FREE THROAT LOZENGES
Collections will take place each day from Dec. 10th-Jan. 14th
Each class will have a Snoopy poster displayed in the hallway outside their classroom. For every 5 items the class collects, a Christmas light will be placed on Snoopy’s dog house.
“Christmas is the warmest time of all.”
Thank you, to the OLP Student Council & the entire OLP student body! Your generous toy donations will make MANY children VERY HAPPY!
Second Grade went to visit a one-room schoolhouse at the
Long Island Museum in Stony Brook.
The students had the opportunity to see what school was like
for children living in New York in the 1880s.
Congratulations to the Third Grade Class for their wonderful performance in
"The Country Store Cat".
Please see more photos under our photo gallery tab on the tool bar.
On Monday, October 21st the 8th grade students at OLP were fortunate to experience a non-traditional, experimental approach to building individual and team growth. Project C.A.R.E. (Challenge Activities Ropes Experience) is a program designed for adolescents to develop self-esteem, confidence and trust in one's self and others through a variety of professionally guided experiences. The students enjoyed this experience!

Rockville Centre- Ursuline Sister Joanne Callahan, Diocesan Superintendent of Schools, is recognized as an official with authority to respond to Revenue Procedure (75-50) which was published in the Internal Revenue Bulletin dated December 8, 1975. In conformity with the IRS regulation, notice is hereby given that the schools of the Diocese of Rockville Centre admit students of any race to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the schools and that the schools do not discriminate on the basis of race in administration of their education policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
Sister Joanne further explained that the very notion of racial discrimination is diametrically opposed to the concept of Christian communities that our schools strive to be. She also pointed out that our Catholic schools have always welcomed and have been enriched by students from various ethnic groups.
