iPads at OLP
The new year brought new technology to Our Lady of Peace School in Lynbrook. Brand new Apple iPads were purchased for each 4th and 5th grade student and were given to the students this week. Over the years, Our Lady of Peace School has used technology to transform teaching and learning. The school already utilizes smartboards in every classroom and they are used daily by teachers and students to maximize learning. Each classroom also has Apple TV and every teacher was given an iPad last year. The iPads were given to the students for them to be used both in school at home. Students are required to bring their iPad to school each day and use it to participate in various lessons that take place. The students will also take the iPad home each night to complete homework assignments, as well as have the opportunity to use the variety of apps that have be placed on it for educational use. These iPads will follow the current 4th and 5th graders for the remainder of their years at OLP. The days of students lugging backpacks full of heavy textbooks are numbered and will be replaced with iPads. Our Lady of Peace School is excited to be part of this technology revolution!
Band Start-up Letter.doc
Dear Parents of the Our Lady of Peace Marching Unit
Welcome to the 2014 Parade Season! Just like last year, our marching practices will be held on Monday afternoons from 2:45 to 3:30 PM. Music and twirling rehearsals will be Thursdays after lunch as needed. As you know from past years, it takes a great deal of practice to get the band, twirlers and color guard to march together as one unit. We are very proud of our award winning Marching Unit.
Attached please find a copy of the letter that was sent home which needs to be signed and returned.

On Monday, October 21st the 8th grade students at OLP were fortunate to experience a non-traditional, experimental approach to building individual and team growth. Project C.A.R.E. (Challenge Activities Ropes Experience) is a program designed for adolescents to develop self-esteem, confidence and trust in one's self and others through a variety of professionally guided experiences. The students enjoyed this experience!

Rockville Centre- Ursuline Sister Joanne Callahan, Diocesan Superintendent of Schools, is recognized as an official with authority to respond to Revenue Procedure (75-50) which was published in the Internal Revenue Bulletin dated December 8, 1975. In conformity with the IRS regulation, notice is hereby given that the schools of the Diocese of Rockville Centre admit students of any race to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the schools and that the schools do not discriminate on the basis of race in administration of their education policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
Sister Joanne further explained that the very notion of racial discrimination is diametrically opposed to the concept of Christian communities that our schools strive to be. She also pointed out that our Catholic schools have always welcomed and have been enriched by students from various ethnic groups.
Dear Parents- Please note that the web address for the Powerschool Parent / Guardian Portal as been changed. The new web address for Power School Parent Portal is:
